RESIDENTS will get the chance to air their thoughts on the new boundary changes within Slough.

A 10-week consultation on the proposed internal ward boundaries within the borough will run until September 12.

Following the council’s decision in January to swap from thirds to all-out elections from 2023, this also came with internal ward changes within the borough.

The Local Government Boundary Commission, an independent body that draws up these boundaries, has put forward proposals for what the internal boundaries should look like next year.

Currently, Slough has 15 wards and, aside from Foxborough and Colnbrook with Poyle, have three councillors representing each area.

The Commission is proposing that there should be 21 two-councillor wards. This is to make sure councillors will represent the same number of electors, and those ward arrangements will help the council work effectively.

It is also proposing the inclusion of the Goodman Park estate in Upton Lea ward instead of Slough Central.

Professor Colin Mellors, Chair of the Commission, said: “We want people in Slough to help us.

“We have drawn up proposals for new wards in Slough. We want to make sure these new electoral arrangements reflect communities. We also want them to be easy to understand and convenient for local people.

“Residents and local organisations can help us do that. We would like them to let us know whether they agree with our proposals before we take final decisions.

“It’s easy to get involved. Go to our website. Or you can e-mail or write to us.

“Just tell us what you think and give us some details why you think that. It’s really simple, so do get involved”

The Commission has a dedicated section on its website where people can see the detail of the proposals and comment on the names of wards and their boundaries:
