  1. SEGRO confirms what will replace former Sainsbury's unit

 

THE MYSTERY to what is taking over a closed supermarket in Slough has been solved.

SEGRO, which creates and manages sustainable industrial spaces, has announced which company will be moving into the former Sainsbury’s site on Farnham Road.

It has revealed that self-storage company Big Yellow is set to take over the unit.

Earlier this week, Aldi confirm it will be moving into the current Pets at Home next spring.

And the pet shop will be pitching up next door in the former Staples store.

2. Man jailed for seven years after robbing rough sleeper and pouring gin over him​

A 32-year-old man has been jailed for seven years at Reading Crown Court after robbing a homeless person and another man in Slough.

Dean Brettell, while himself a rough sleeper, beat another man he was sharing a tent with in Brunel Way before pouring a bottle of gin over him and stealing £260 in February.

He grabbed another victim by his neck in a separate attack last year and forced him to hand over his phone, £50 cash and a gold chain on Stoke Road.

3. 'Enough is enough': Mum calls for change after son is 'attacked' at school

A MUM has shared her concerns over the safeguarding at a Slough school after her son was reportedly “attacked”.

Tabetha Scott claims her son was punched by another student at Grove Academy, on Ladbrooke Road, and is now suffering with a busted lip.

The mother has slammed the school for not doing enough following the incident.

She said: “This school needs to be shut down.

“My children are constantly being assaulted by other students and nothing is being done about it, enough is enough now."

4. Taxi fares to rise as drivers struggle with rising fuel and living costs

MINIMUM taxi fares are set to double as Royal Borough cabbies say they ‘cannot go on’ as costs of fuel and living rise.

Councillors sitting on the licensing panel approved the hackney carriage driver’s request to raise the minimum fare from £3 to £6.

The tariff from 11pm to 6am and Bank Holidays was also increased from £4.50 to £9, the luggage fee was doubled to 40p, and charging a 50 per cent surcharge above the standard rate for people carriers carrying five or more passengers.

5. 'It wrecked a special day': Dad's anger after catalytic converter stolen at Legoland

A THEME park goer said his daughter’s day was ‘wrecked’ after his catalytic converter was stolen from his car.

Ashley Jackson visited Legoland with his wife and two children on Friday, July 1, to enjoy a day out with his family.

But his car, along with six other vehicles, were targeted by catalytic converter thefts.

Mr Jackson explained the family had to carry all their belongings to the hotel, including children’s car seats for a four-year-old and a nine-month-old from car park D.
