A Hampshire woman had her partner arrested after falsely claiming he kidnapped her.

Kirsten Parry, of Reading Road, Farnborough, pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice in Windsor on August 8, 2020.

Reading Crown Court heard how Parry phoned 999 and reported she had been kidnapped and held captive by her former partner.

She later provided police with a statement making the same allegation.

Her partner was arrested and taken into police custody before he was interviewed.

He was let go after it became clear he had not kidnapped her.

Mr Gavinder Rajah, defending, said Parry made the claim following a ‘number of serious and harrowing incidents’ between the pair.

“What she said on that day was not true. However, he has falsely imprisoned her and kidnapped her.

“No further action was taken.

“Effectively it was a lie based on a previous truth.”

Reading Crown Court heard how Parry, who appeared in a green jumpsuit carrying an Elvis carrier bag, committed the offence two days after receiving a 12-week suspended sentence for six counts of fraud.

She will be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday, September 9.

Her Honour Judge Norton told Parry this was an “extremely serious offence”.

Punishment for perverting the course of justice can range from a community order to up to seven years in prison.
