THE STREETS in Slough are said to still be plagued with litter, despite a resident complaining to the council multiple times.

Last week, Daniel Ciecielag, who lives on Princes Street, contacted the Observer about the state of the road he lives on and the surrounding areas.

He told the newspaper that himself and his neighbours have shared their concerns to the council about the amount of litter that is thrown onto the streets saying it looks “disgusting”.

Although the council has since cleaned up his road, Princes Street, he said that is the only area that has been cleared of litter but the surrounding roads have been left.

He said there is still “lots of litter” along Wellington Street and Diamond Road.

Mr Ciecielag said: “They [the council] are rising council tax with no reason, they still wasting our money, we have small kids, we cannot even get through to the cars because there's lots of litter on the road which they not cleaning.

“No one is checking them but it's not only that area it's all over Slough.”

He also said he has seen multiple rats in the area which he described is “unacceptable”.

However Slough Borough Council has argued the team litter pick in the town every day.

A Slough Borough Council spokesperson said: “We carry out an extensive amount of litter picking across the town every day, we also have to rely on our residents and visitors to Slough using one of the many bins available, not littering out of car windows and taking pride in their area.”

According to Fix My Street, there are other areas around the town that have experienced some similar issues this year.

The website is used by people who want to raise problems such as potholes, litter or broken streetlamps to their local authorities.

On Sunday, March 20, 2022 it was reported on the map-based site there was hazardous litter, including broken glass and cans, on Nixey Close.

On May 6, 2022, someone had reported that ‘extreme amounts of rubbish’ had been dumped in Stoke Gardens.

The individual said there was an infestation of rats and that something needed to be done ‘urgently’.

And on Monday, May 30 another local flagged to Fix My Street that there was ‘dangerous’ glass litter on the footpath between Glenavon Gardens and Upton Court Road.

Most recently, other issues have been raised with regards to rubbish in Slough as a ‘trip hazard’ was noticed by a resident on July 13.

The Observer has also previously heard from a Chalvey local who expressed his anger towards the antisocial behaviour that is taking place on Chalvey Road West.

The groups of people are said to also be throwing rubbish all over the floor.
