HEATHROW Airport meet and greet parking companies have been a major concern for Langley and Colnbrook residents for a while.

Multiple people have contacted the Slough Observer in recent months about the issues surrounding companies reportedly dumping holidaymakers cars on residential streets.

We have rounded up some of the main areas that locals have been worried about as vehicles fill the roads they live and work on.

We first heard from David, who lives at Linden House, who contacted the Observer back in March.

He told us the dumped cars were impacting a lot of people who live in the block of flats, particularly the elderly and disabled.

David said there have been various meetings with his housing office as well as raising the issue with Independent councillor Madhuri Bedi (Foxborough ward).

The council originally said that because there were no parking restrictions in place on the road and the vehicles are taxed, there is no enforcement action the parking team can take.

Slough Observer then heard from a local business employee from a company on Lakeside Road, in Colnbrook.

The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said since covid restrictions lifted the road has been "terrible".

She said it was obvious the Heathrow Airport meet and greet companies were using the road to leave peoples cars while they were away on holiday.

After we published that story, more residents reached out sharing their frustrations.

We were told by our readers that there were many other roads being targeted.

These included Tamar Way, Humber Way, Thames Road, Crown meadow, Seacourt Road.

And in May, we were contacted by another company situated along the Colnbrook Bypass.

One man from the business, who also wished to remain anonymous, showed the Observer CCTV footage of the meet and greet company using the lay-by along the bypass to prove the issue was still ongoing.

He explained it was happening at multiple times throughout the day and causing problems for drivers along the road.

A Heathrow spokesperson said: “No one arriving at Heathrow should be parking in residential streets.

“There are ample public transport options and official parking can be found on our website and we do not endorse unofficial parking operators.

“We will continue to support local authorities in their efforts to deter non-compliant parking on public highways around the airport.”

The airport also stated that any parking company that leaves cars on residential streets isn't connected or endorsed by Heathrow in any way.

Most recently on June 8, Aviation Policing Heathrow issued a statement warning travellers to check the meet and greet companies 'carefully'.

Crime Prevention Officer Mike Smooker from Aviation Policing said: “I have been liaising with ‘meet and greet’ companies at Heathrow for some time.

“Many are reputable and offer a good level of service that deliver to customer expectations.

“However customers are sometimes disappointed with the service received by some meet and greet companies.”

Mr Smooker explained vehicles have been returned to travellers with damage, are dirty and some have added mileage on the cars.

He warned people to check their terms and conditions before booking.

Mr Smooker added travellers who intend to leave their vehicle with Meet and Greet to do their research before deciding which company to use.
