A GYMNASTICS club in Windsor held its first competition to raise money for new equipment.

Athena Angels Gymnastics Club, based at Thames Valley Athletics Centre, Windsor, raised more than £1,000 from the event which will go towards new equipment and to help fund sessions for disadvantaged children throughout summer.

Founded in September 2019, the club, which started with 12 members, now has more than 200 memberships and is running from three different venues.

Angela Carr, of Athena Angels Gymnastics Club, said: “The gymnasts were amazing, nerves were high but it was lovely to see their performances and we are incredibly proud of everything they achieved.

“It was clear to see the hard work that had been put into their routines.”

The competition had eight categories with children competing from age four to 15.

The club invited an external judge who Ms Carr said was “impressed” by the level of skills from the gymnasts.

Awards were presented to Milly, aged 15, for choreography, Hannah, 8, for the advanced skills category, and to Mitzie, 5.
