THE community has shared an ‘overwhelming’ amount of support towards one popular stand on Slough High Street.

Slough’s jacket potato stand, run by Jane, Jack and Johnny Hughes, is celebrating 31 years trading in the town this September.

And we spoke to the family about how they’ve found running the business on the high street over the years.

Hundreds of people shared their thoughts on how much they’ve enjoyed the spuds when they’ve tried them.

And many locals called them the “best jacket potatoes ever”.

Here are just some of the positive comments the stand received on our Facebook page:

Theresa Carter said: “I have been having these for over 15 years and love them – chilli and cheese is the best – congratulations to the team – you always serve with a smile and a chat.”

Paula Lyth added: “My fave spuds back home…cheese and chilli con carne was my favourite toppings. Fantastic to know the stall is still going strong even though the high street is changing.”

And Jo Darren Loddy said: “Love these beautiful humans. I worked in Littlewoods many years ago so I have known these guys a long time. Love the jackets always fresh.”

Employees reminisced from the former Yellow Pages, First Choice and Office Angels as they all shared memories of when they bought the spuds on their lunch breaks.

Slough Observer:

Responding to all the messages, Jane Hughes thanked everyone for supporting the business over the years.

She said: “We are truly thankful for all the support and overwhelmed from the love the people of Slough have shown us.

“I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers.

“We are grateful for the new customers and those who come back year after year purchasing our food.”

She added without the customers they wouldn’t have been on Slough High Street for 31 years.

Jane said: “We look forward to having a continuous presence in Slough High Street, and seeing new and old faces in the years to come.”
