The Observer has rounded up some of the most important stories from the last week.

1. Inquest opens after man, 20, died at railway station

Slough Observer:

An inquest has been opened after a young man died at Maidenhead railway station last month. 

Danyhal Masood, from Maidenhead, died aged 20 on July 6, 2022.

This came following an incident on the tracks at the railway station shortly after 12pm.

Opening the inquest, senior Berkshire coroner Heidi Connor said a post-mortem had been carried out following Danyhal’s passing. 

The proposed cause of death was multiple injuries.

2. Water park loses legal battle over council's planning enforcement decision

Slough Observer:

A WATER park’s legal challenge against the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM) has been dismissed by a High Court judge.

Liquid Leisure in Datchet took the council to court, alleging the local authority ‘unlawfully’ issued a breach of condition notice (BCN) at a time when RBWM already slapped an enforcement notice on them.

The aqua park, which operated at the site since 2002, was told in December 2020 to take down its inflatable water course, caravan and camping site, party venue, and child’s play centre that’s within the greenbelt, floodplain, and a local wildlife site, as it did not have planning permission. It only had permission to host water-skiing and windsurfing.

3. Charity left 'heartbroken and disgusted' after youths target swans with catapults

Slough Observer:

A CHARITY said it is "heartbroken" after youths broke into its site and fired catapults at the swans.

Swan Support, in Datchet, which supports injured birds, said the past couple of weeks have been "the most difficult" in the history of the charity.

Youths reportedly broke into the premises and tortured the swans with catapults for 20 minutes.

In a statement on Facebook, Swan Support said two cygnets and two adults were killed and a number of others injured leaving two with life-altering injuries.

4. Police seize luxury sports car in Slough after driver caught out

Slough Observer:

Police seized a Maserati in Slough after catching the driver with no tax or insurance on the vehicle.

The driver of the Italian luxury car, which was stopped today (August 18) was subsequently reported.

In a statement on Facebook, Thames Valley Police described the incident as “a classic case of having a Champagne lifestyle on a Lemonade budget”.

5. Man in court after allegedly carrying loaded crossbow to ‘kill the Queen’ at Windsor Castle

Slough Observer:

A former supermarket worker has appeared in court charged under the Treason Act after allegedly carrying a loaded crossbow into the grounds of Windsor Castle “to kill the Queen”.

Jaswant Singh Chail, 20, was held on Christmas Day last year close to the Queen’s private residence, with a line of sight to her apartments, where she was at the time.

He was allegedly wearing a hood and a mask and carrying a crossbow loaded with a bolt with the safety catch off and ready to fire.
