A man accused of killing a 24-year-old in Slough appeared before a judge today.
Riaz Miah, 21, of no fixed abode, is charged with the murder of Mohammed Rafaqit Kayani, who died from a fatal stab wound to the chest during an incident in Keel Drive on August 30.
At a hearing at Reading Crown Court today (Tuesday), Miah appeared before Judge Heather Norton via video link from HMP Bullingdon, where he is on remand.
As well as murder, Miah is charged with perverting the course of justice, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug.
At the brief preliminary hearing this morning, dates were set for a series of pre-trial hearings, with a potential trial scheduled for January or February 2022.
Miah is next due to appear on October 3, when he is expected to enter a plea to the charges against him.
Miah is one of three men charged in connection with the death of Mr Kayani.
Hassan Al-Kubanji, aged 21, of Peabody Avenue, London, is charged with one count each of murder, perverting the course of justice and possession of a blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely cocaine and heroin.
Miguel Parian John, aged 41, of Concorde Way, Slough, is charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A, namely cocaine and heroin, and one count each of assisting an offender and possession of a blade/sharp pointed article in a public place.
Both men have appeared before a judge to face the charges, but are yet to enter pleas.
