EXTRA parking for mourners flocking to Windsor to pay tribute to The Queen has been provided for a price.

The council has announced there will be additional park and walk spaces at Windsor Racecourse, which is 1.5 miles away from the town centre, and at the Review Ground car park that’s approximately 20 minutes away.

All council-owned public car parks, except for Home Park, are currently open but have very limited availability as the town centre is very busy.

Parking at Windsor Racecourse in Maidenhead Road will cost £12 and is card payment only on arrival.

The Review Ground car park on the A332 will cost £20. It is open from 6am until 10pm on Friday, the weekend, and Monday, and parking is free on Friday only.

To park at the Review Ground, motorists must use the Ringo App. On Monday, parking should be pre-booked where possible. Visit: https://tickets.windsor.gov.uk/sales/transport-and-passes/windsor-committal-service-park/review-ground-parking.

Walking routes will be signposted, but the ground may be uneven in parts. On Monday, Blue Badge holders are exempt from charges at the Review Ground Car Park.

The council also said a number of road closures across Windsor will be in place on the funeral date, which is Monday, September 19, in order to facilitate the safe running of the day.

In addition, in preparation for the day, there will be a number of road closures in place on Saturday, September 17 from midnight until 7am.

The council stated: “If you’re planning to come to Windsor, please expect significant travel delays, use public transport if possible, and if driving then make sure you know where you’re going to park before setting off early.”
