An INSPIRING man is running an ultra-marathon 15 years after suffering a devastating brain haemorrhage.

Richard Wynne-Ellis from Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, suffered a bleed on the brain in October 2007 which led to him having a life-saving operation.

After waking up with a headache and struggling to take down a paracetemol, his mum decided to take him to hospital where he was quickly transported to John Radcliff in Oxford via Thames Valley Air Ambulance.

Now Richard said: "I will be running 70km for the Thames Valley Air Ambulance which is very close to my heart, or head because when I was 13 I had a brain haemorrhage and the Air Ambulance saved my life—airlifting me from Wexham Park Hospital to John Radcliffe Hospital.

"So far I have raised £1,786 and I am aiming to raise £25,000. With your help, it would be incredible if we could raise more awareness about this event and raise a day's operating cost for this life-saving charity."

Richard's sister kept a diary when he was in hospital to remind him of everything that happened.

Their dad also suffered a brain haemorrhage and didn't remember a thing. The family found it difficult to explain where the last two months had gone.

Richard's family wrote a letter to Thames Valley Air Ambulance to thank them for being available to airlift him to John Radcliffe.

To which they responded with an acknowledgement letter and subsequent invitations to fundraising events and the launch of B.O.B.

Now Richard wants to give back to the amazing organisation which saved his life by raising £25,000.

He hopes to achieve this by running 43 Miles from Slough to Oxford by October 19, 2022

The charity has provided people in need of urgent critical care 2,880 times in the past year.

They are called out on average seven times per day, and it costs them £3,900 to send their helicopter on each mission.
