VITAL volunteers are being needed to help people suffering with Parkinson's disease.

Charity Parkinson’s UK is appealing for volunteers in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead to join its committee.

Residents are being encouraged to get involved and there is the opportunity to fill three key roles, branch treasurer, branch secretary and branch membership.

The branch treasurer is responsible for managing the financial activity in the local group, including recording activity and reporting the group’s financial position.

The branch secretary organises the committee and ensures the group and their activities are running compliantly and the branch membership secretary handles membership information, ensuring information is maintained with compliance to UK GDPR.

Volunteers are responsible for ensuring local people with Parkinson’s can access activities that make a difference to them.

Parkinson’s UK Network support officer Josie Taylor said: “The Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead Branch is a lifeline for people in the local area who are living with Parkinson’s, but we rely on volunteers to help us keep these groups running.

“Without the support from people like you, these groups could be forced to close.

“If you can spare a few hours a month we’d love to welcome you to volunteer alongside the amazing people who are part of the Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead Branch - because with your support we really can change lives.”

In the UK around 145,000 people are diagnosed with Parkinson’s, including 530 in Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead.

The Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead group meets on the second Wednesday each month from 1.30pm at Burnham Park Hall, Burnham.
