The resident Santa paws at Battersea's Old Windsor centre are eagerly awaiting their Christmas treats, but are asking members of the public for a warm blanket to snuggle up in.

Dogs and cats currently calling Battersea home have been getting in the festive spirit, with their Christmas walk just around the corner.

However, with the temperature dropped of late the charity is in need of warm blankets for the dogs in its care to snuggle up in to make sure they have a cosy Christmas.

Whilst the animals are enjoying the seasonal atmosphere that the dedicated staff are providing, the charity is hoping that generous members of the public will open up their hearts and their cupboards to donate some warming blankets.

Dogs such as Fred, a playful four-year-old Mongrel who has been at Battersea for over 280 days and is still searching for his forever home, love nothing more than spending time relaxing in a bundle of fluffy blankets after a day of long walks and games.

However, staff at the Windsor centre are now having to share out blankets due to a shortage of supply.

Centre manager at Battersea Old Windsor, Kaye Mughal, said: “Every day is made special for the dogs and cats in Battersea’s care and over the Christmas period, our staff and volunteers go above and beyond to spread cheer and make the day magical with festive fuss, a Christmas Day walk and gifts from our generous supporters.

“This Christmas, the dogs at Battersea Old Windsor would love nothing more than a bundle of blankets to keep them comfy after a day of celebrations.

"We have dogs of all shapes and sizes coming through our gates and as a result, we get through lots of blankets that need to be washed every day.

"Any donations would be gratefully appreciated to give our dogs a place to lay their heads while they dream of their new homes.”

If you have any clean, unwanted fleece blankets, throws or non-feather single duvets, Battersea Old Windsor’s dogs would love to make use of them. Unfortunately, pillows and sheets are not suitable.

To donate some warm blankets to help the animals at Battersea Old Windsor, please email bowreception@battersea.org.uk for more details or drop them directly to the centre at Priest Hill, Old Windsor, Englefield Green, Windsor, SL4 2JN.
