1. Victim left 'terrified' after three masked intruders enter Slough home

Three men have left a victim 'terrified' after entering a property armed with a machete, hammer and shovel.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses to the incident on Sunday, December 11 when an aggravated burglary took place on Horton Road at 7pm.

They made threats to the occupants of the house and caused damage to the front and back of the property.

2. Anti-knife crime competition invites teens to think about future

Get your microphone ready because a new competition has launched in Slough to find budding talent in an initiative to spread awareness about knife crime.

The 'No Knives' anti-knife crime competition is asking young people aged 11 to 18 to rap, sing, write poems or compose music around the theme of anti-knives.

Hosted by Slough Music Centre and backed by Thames Valley Police and Slough Borough Council the only rules are 'no swearing' and songs can be about 'real life but with a positive outlook'.

3. Asylum seekers cost Windsor & Maidenhead one million pounds

The Royal Borough Council spends hundreds of thousands of pounds on asylum seekers, according to a top council boss.

Adult and children executive director Kevin McDaniel told councillors sitting on the corporate overview and scrutiny panel that the local authority spends about one million pounds on people seeking asylum.

This figure, however, excludes people from Ukraine escaping the Russian invasion as those costs are fully paid by government.

4. Battersea Windsor appeals for blankets for resident rescues

The resident Santa paws at Battersea's Old Windsor centre are eagerly awaiting their Christmas treats, but are asking members of the public for a warm blanket to snuggle up in.

Dogs and cats currently calling Battersea home have been getting in the festive spirit, with their Christmas walk just around the corner.

However, with the temperature dropped of late the charity is in need of warm blankets for the dogs in its care to snuggle up in to make sure they have a cosy Christmas.

5. Joshua Tilt sentenced: Victim's dad left 'violated' by police officer

Warning: The content in this article may be upsetting. 

The bereaved family of a teenager who took his own life say they are left feeling 'violated' as the police officer who shared pictures of their son's body is sent down.

An ex-British Transport Police employee has been sent to prison after admitting to sharing the image of the RAF Cadet Lewis Williams who took his own life on Slough's train tracks in 2021.
