A flurry of objectors prompt extension plans to be refused at 254 High Street, Langley, Slough (P/00372/021).

An applicant known as ‘Mr P. Gill’ wanted to create a three-storey extension to an existing shop in order to create new apartments and a new store.
The housing mix includes two studios, two one-beds, and two two-bedroom flats. The applicant said the plans will be “in harmony” with the character of the area.
But residents begged to differ where a landslide of objections was submitted, urging Slough planning officers to refuse the scheme.

They were primarily concerned with the flats overlooking properties, traffic congestion, noise, and the three-storey extension representing an overdevelopment of the site.
Residents also feared future occupiers will park in nearby streets, such as Elmhurst Road, as there are no details on parking in the planning statement.
One nearby homeowner wrote: “There is a problem with parking as I understand a shop is also in the planning application. Where do all these people park? Yes, you got it, in Elmhurst residents parking only.
“We already are having a horrendous problem with parking on our road by the original shop’s customers. Please don’t say it is patrolled by traffic wardens as I have been working on the front of my house for over 1 week now and I can honestly say I have not seen 1 warden patrol our road.”

Plans to build maisonettes refused at 2-4a Boyn Valley Road, Maidenhead (22/02419/FULL).

A developer was denied planning permission to erect two buildings containing 10 two-bedroom maisonettes.
The plans also included three affordable homes – with one being accessible – 10 car parking spaces, and a communal garden.
While the scheme wasn’t met with a huge amount of controversy, the Maidenhead Civic Society felt the plans represented an overdevelopment of the site and the car parking spaces were ‘inadequate’.
Planning officers agreed with the group’s concerns and refused the scheme.
