PILES of old furniture are being dumped outside three boarded up properties in Burnham, leaving it looking like a tip for residents.

One neighbour who lives in Orchardville, Burnham, says the front gardens of the properties are "still a mess" with "loads of rubbish left outside".

The three properties are managed by social housing company L&Q.

L&Q explained a member of their housing team will deal with the rubbish before the end of the week.

They wrote in a statement: "We encourage all residents to raise such issues and concerns with our team directly, and the matter will be resolved swiftly.”

The neighbour, who wishes not to be named, also claims the homes have been sat empty for a while now.

They wrote to the BFP: "There are three houses that are managed by L&Q in Orchardville, Burnham, number 47-49. They have been unoccupied for at least 8 months, and two were destroyed internally with the copper work removed by thieves.

"Despite writing to Joy Morrissey (our MP) who has been very helpful, and contacting L&Q directly, the houses are still a mess, and loads of rubbish has been left outside of one of the properties. Given that these are two or three bedrooms, I'd have thought there are hundreds of families looking for homes."

L&Q explained why the homes have been unoccupied for so long.

A spokeswoman said: “All the empty properties at Orchardville, Burnham, are currently subject to individual resident rehousing strategies. This process can take anywhere up to 18-24months, especially when dealing with vulnerable residents, or people with complex needs, which is the case for all the properties in question.

"We are doing our best to put the right people in the right homes, so that they can live their best possible lives.

"We understand residents’ concerns regarding the potential threat of having a number of empty properties for a long time, however we are taking all the necessary precautions in securing the homes and ensuring the safety of our residents and their neighbours.”
