HEARTLESS theives have 'ransacked' a school dedicated to helping children with special educational needs and stolen crucial learning equipment during several break-ins.

Upton Grange School, on Datchet Road in Slough, reported intruders first entered the building on Sunday, January 1.

Since Sunday, the school says the building has been broken into on two further occasions, including the outbuilding where tools and a van have also been stolen and damaged.

Headteacher Richard Gadd said: "The school has been damaged internally and externally, windows have been smashed, doors kicked in and classrooms ransacked.

"The school has had a large quantity of tools stolen, both maintenance equipment and specialised tools for the forest school curriculum.

"All laptops and Ipads, which are essential communication devices for our children who have significant speech, language and communication development challenges, have been stolen.

"Bank cards have also been cleared of hundreds of pounds."

As of now the school is under the control of the police forensics team which is currently investigating the break-ins.

Pupils of the school, children aged three to seven with complex needs and autism, have been notified of a delayed start to the school term.

Headteacher Richard Gadd continued: "At present, we are awaiting the outcomes of the investigation and we certainly hope the perpetrators can be found.

"The equipment the school uses has specialist software to aid the children learning and we are hopeful that someone may be able to help with the investigation and return these important learning tools for our children.

"It is fair to say that the staff at the school are incredibly disappointed that individuals have targeted our school, particularly as it must be very clear to them that our children need particular care, attention and resources to aid their progress in school.

"To continually return to try to damage the school further when all our resources have been removed is hard to fathom."
