A 'controversial' poll that asks residents to vote for the best and worst places to live has once again popped up, inviting the public to have their say.

Last year, the iLiveHere poll announced Slough was ranked the ninth worst place to live in the UK.

In the announcement, Slough was described as a 'concrete jungle' with 'houses unfit for a dog'.

The survey, which is conducted annually, took a poll of 110,172 people in 2022.

In 2021 the town ranked 24th on the list when one resident of the town described it as the 'toilet of Berkshire'.

Having recently risen 15 places, where will Slough rank in 2023?

This year the iLiveHere poll closes on January 31 with residents invited to vote here: ilivehere.co.uk/vote-for-the-worst-place-to-live-in-england-2023

Reflecting on the poll, a spokesperson from Slough Borough Council said: "We are proud of our town which has great communities, businesses and opportunities.

"Those who live here and get involved in things would perhaps disagree it is in the top 10 worst places to live. A place is what you make of it.”

The 2022 rankings are as follows:

10. Bradford

9. Slough

8. Jaywick

7. Corby

6. Bolton

5. Peterborough

4. Liverpool

3. Luton

2. Huddersfield

1. Aylesbury
