The following cases were heard at Reading or Slough Magistrates’ Courts:

November 29:

ZAHID IQBAL, 34, of Laggan Square, Maidenhead, convicted of driving while using a handheld mobile device on the A308(M) on June 1, 2021. Also failed to give information relating to the identification of a driver of a vehicle between August 31, 2021, and September 28, 2021, when asked by police. Fined £200. Also ordered to pay £34 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.

NUNO VINAGRE, 47, of Oxford Road, Reading, admitted driving while disqualified on Forbury Road, Reading, on May 26, 2022. Sentenced to 14 weeks in prison suspended for 18 months due to 'flagrant disregard for court orders'. Disqualified from driving for 24 months.

JAMIE JORDAN, 44, of Oxford Road, Reading, admitted harassment without violence between October 16, 2021 and October 23, 2021. Given a community order including rehabilitation activity. Ordered to pay £200 court costs and £95 victim surcharge.

TAULANT RUCI, 35, of Caversham Road, Reading, admitted drug driving in Kings Road, Reading, on June 6, 2022. Found to have cocaine in his system. Given a community order to undertake 80 hours unpaid work. Ordered to pay £85 court costs and £114 victim surcharge. Disqualified from driving for 12 months.

RICKY HUTCHINSON, 39, of Linden Road, Reading, convicted of stealing meat, detergent, and soap totalling £80.90 from Sainsbury's, Reading, on July 7. Also convicted of stealing crates of beer worth £48 from Sainsbury's on July 23, and meat and detergent worth £209.41 from the same shop on July 27. Convicted of stealing wine and coffee worth £312.40 from the same shop on July 21 and attempted to steal meat worth £70.01 from Sainsbury's on August 1. Also attempted to steal meat worth £80.93 on July 28. Convicted stealing meat, steak, chicken, and ham worth £191.13 from Sainsbury's on July 26 and burgers, fish, cheese and coffee worth £183.60 on July 26. Given a community order to comply with rehabilitation activity and prohibited from returning to Sainsbury's on Shinfield Road for 18 months. Also ordered to pay £85 court costs and £114 victim surcharge. 

LEONARDO PALOMO, 39, of St Marks Road, Bracknell, admitted driving without the correct insurance and driving while disqualified on Ascot Road, Maidenhead, on November 8, 2022. Given a community order including 80 hours unpaid work. Disqualified for 12 months. Ordered to pay £85 court costs and £114 victim surcharge.

A fundamental principle of justice is that it must be seen to be done. Open justice is acclaimed on a number of grounds: as a safeguard against judicial error, to assist the deterrent function of criminal trials and to permit the revelation of matters of interest.
