A Slough school has received an 'outstanding' Ofsted report, with positives all around.

Upton Court Grammar School, a secondary school located on Lascelles Road, was inspected by Ofsted on November 29 and 30, 2022.

In a report published today (January 24) Ofsted said: "Pupils are proud of their school and actively commit to the core values of unity, curiosity, growth and service."

"Pupils are happy and safe. Rare instances of bullying are dealt with swiftly and effectively.

"Attendance is high, lateness is rare and exclusions infrequent."

The report goes on to praise the staff's "high-quality" of teaching and "extensive support" for the personal development of the students.

“Leaders have created an aspirational curriculum. It is carefully planned, boldly ambitious and thoughtfully implemented. It is meticulously sequenced across all years, including the sixth form.

"School leaders are committed to supporting all pupils to thrive and succeed. Character education is a significant strength of the school.

"The breadth and scale of extra-curricular activities are exceptional.

"School improvement priorities are ambitious and resolutely focused on providing a world-class education.”

The report also praised the school's sixth form, stating that "significant numbers of students proceed to highly regarded universities of their choice".

In a newsletter to parents, the school said: "Inspectors engaged in a thorough review of our school and found it to be outstanding in all areas.

"We are all delighted that the hard work of teachers, staff, leaders and governors has been recognised, as well as the dedication and excellent engagement from students and the partnership from parents."
