A popular Bingo hall which has served the Slough community for multiple years has today announced it is set to close for good.

Buzz Bingo is to close nine of its 91 clubs due to the "ongoing and challenging operating environment".

The Slough club operates from on Bath Road in what was once the Adelphi Theatre, which saw performers such as The Beatles take the stage in its heyday.

The club closure is estimated to impact 22 colleagues at the site.

Buzz Bingo's Chief Executive Dominic Mansour said: "In common with the entire leisure and hospitality sector, Buzz Bingo has failed to see customers return to the high street in the same numbers as before the pandemic.

"This, coupled with a squeeze on family finances brought about by rising inflation and energy prices alongside a jump in our own operating costs means we have no real option other than to cease trading in nine of our locations.

"These closures will, very sadly, impact a number of our colleagues and so our priority is to support all those affected and to do everything we can to minimise job losses.

"I personally want to thank them for their commitment and service to Buzz."

In total, the club closures are expected to impact 151 employees across the country of Buzz Bingo's total workforce of 2,456 colleagues in total.

Other bingo clubs earmarked for closure are Surrey Quays, Dumfries, Grantham, Belle Vue, Bromborough, Carlisle, Keighley and Cumbernauld.
