In response, Labour group leader Cllr Pavitar Kaur Mann said: "At the meeting it became apparent that the gender imbalance created by the Tories during the election would be carried through to all the important positions, with no consideration to making sure females were represented in important roles."

It comes as the Labour Party appoint an all-female leadership team.

Cllr Naveeda Qasim Slough Labour Group’s Campaigns Officer said, “It’s clear we are going to have our work cut out to get women’s voices heard and we are strong and determined women who will not be cowed by this Tory Old Boys Club”.

While the Conservatives did not win the local election on May 4, a co-operation agreement with the Liberal Democrats has meant that they have now taken control of the council with the majority.

Cllr Pavitar Kaur Mann added: "I am disappointed the Lib Dems haven’t learnt their lesson from 2004 when they propped up a previous local Coalition of Chaos or from the disastrous national Coalition of Chaos from 2010-2015.”

In response, Leader of Slough Borough Council, Councillor Dexter Smith said: “I am pleased that we were able to announce the co-operation agreement with the Liberal Democrats.

"This is an important agreement which will provide the Council with much-needed stability in the years’ ahead, and will provide a clear majority within the Council to deliver the programme of change required, and to facilitate the recovery of the Council”.

“I will take no lectures from Labour on stewardship of the Council, they didn’t need a coalition to cause chaos, they achieve that all by themselves.

"It is now incumbent on the Conservative Administration to deal with the mess left behind by Labour and to begin the urgent work of recovering the Council’s financial position, and delivering a value for money Council for residents."
