A wedding venue in Buckinghamshire has been ranked the second-most talked about on social media in the UK.

Hedsor House in Taplow has topped many a best wedding venue ranking and hosted its fair share of celebrities tying the knot – and now it has another string to add to its bow, having been named the second-most Instagram worthy wedding venue in the country.

The research was carried out by Aura Print, who tracked which venues across the UK were being talked about most by Instagram users, eventually narrowing it down to a top 10 list of the most desirable places to get married on home soil.

It’s not hard to see why Hedsor managed to rack up 34,814 mentions on the social media platform – a stately home dating back to 1166, it’s a venue that offers over 100 acres of grounds, classical architecture and even pet-friendly weddings.

Hedsor has also acted as a filming location for a number of film and television productions over the years, from Downton Abbey to The Golden Compass (2008) and Quartet (2012).

It was even ranked by The Telegraph as one of the country's top 10 filming locations, attracting star-studded casts in part due to its handy proximity to London.

If that wasn’t enough, the Georgian manor also has ringing endorsements from a handful of celebrities, with Ricky Gervais describing it as “one of the most beautiful houses I have ever seen” and Tom Hardy declaring: “I have never done better work than when I entered this building… it’s all downhill from here!”

Hatfield House beat Hedsor to first place in the Instagram-based rankings, with 34,814 mentions on the platform.

Other runners up included Ashridge House in Berkhamsted and Dulwich Picture Gallery in south-east London.
