ICELAND Foods has opened a new store on Slough high street today (June 20).

The supermarket giant closed its store in Queensmere Shopping Centre yesterday (June 19), with the new store opening on Slough high street today.

Posting on social media, a spokesperson from Iceland said: "We are NOW OPEN! Come and take a look for yourself on High Street, Slough. We can't wait to see you!"

Iceland made the decision to close the Queensmere store in May.

The store was due to close on June 5, with the high street branch opening the next day on June 6, however delays have meant it opened today.

It coincides with the long-awaited redevelopment of the centre, which began in January when the western side of the site was closed to the public, with shops either closing or relocating.

A spokesperson from Iceland said: "Across Iceland and The Food Warehouse we have a portfolio of over UK 1,000 stores and continually review the retail experience offered to our customers as local shopping patterns change and shop leases expire."

The new store has opened in the old Bargain Buys unit.
