A 39-year man from Maidenhead has been sentenced after police found a 70cm curved sword and a knuckleduster during a raid at his home.

Anthony Moore, of Ellington Park in Maidenhead appeared at Reading Magistrates Court on Friday, July 7 where he pleaded guilty to all counts.

As well as finding the two offensive weapons at his home address, officers also caught Moore in possession of a lock knife during a search of his vehicle on June 8 at 9:20am on Cordwallis Road, Maidenhead.

These weapons are now unlawful under the offensive weapons act 2019.

PC Gavin Ward of Windsor and Maidenhead Problem Solving Team, said: “The Problem Solving Team will continue to tackle knife crime within the community, and under Op Deter we will seek to swiftly prosecute all those who possess items capable of causing harm.

The Magistrates Court sentenced Moore to an 18-week prison sentence suspended for one year and six months, including 150 hours of unpaid work and participation in an accredited probation programme.

A victim surcharge of £154 and £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service has been ordered from Moore to cover costs.
