A new shop has arrived in town, boasting everyday essentials, food and drink and electrical goods.

Poundstretcher has opened within the Nicholsons Shopping Centre in Maidenhead, with the grand opening taking place on Saturday, August 12.

The bargain chain said they were "thrilled" to be opening the store, with a massive summer sale taking place upon launch.

It will see thousands of products with up to 50 per cent off their usual prices.

Poundstretcher saw in its first day with an entertainer running games and activities with £250 worth of Poundstretcher shopping vouchers up for grabs.

A Charity Trolley Dash for the benefit of Maidenhead Foodbank also took place with contestants being tasked with filling their trolleys with as many products in 60 seconds as possible.

The store sells groceries, toiletries, kitchenware, bedding, bathroom products, furniture and children’s toys.

It also includes a large pet section under the pet hut which will set items for dogs, cats, small pets and wild birds.

Poundstretcher started as a family business which has grown over the 40 years it has been serving the public.

The new store opened up both part and full-time roles to local people.

Property Director Gerry Loughran said: "We are pleased to be opening a brand new store for the people of Maidenhead to access our wide range of offers and products.

"The team is working hard to deliver an outstanding shopping experience, great service, and an enjoyable shopping environment for all our old and new customers."
