Problems have been raised regarding the availability of trolleys in a major supermarket in Slough.

John Miles regularly shops at the Tesco Extra Superstore on Brunel Way, but has found it increasingly hard to navigate the car park and locate a trolley.

He raised his concerns with the Tesco store manager at Brunel Way in June but has reportedly not been given a response.

In the letter, seen by the Observer, John writes: "I have previously written to you regarding the availability of the trolleys at your store.

"It appears that there are now no staff that collect these trolleys with a mechanical device.

"As a result of this, these trolleys are now parked everywhere throughout the car park area on the ground floor.

"This huge car park consists of four lanes, where in finding these trolleys can be anywhere in this huge area.

"This new arrangement is grossly unfair to the elderly and infirm who very often need to search this huge area for a necessary trolley item.

"This I feel is very inconsiderate of Tesco."

Speaking to the Observer, John added that he feels Tesco is "disregarding" the less able and that the situation is "cruel" to all those it affects.

On approaching Tesco about the situation, a Tesco Spokesperson said: “We’re really sorry to hear that this customer was not happy with their experience at our Slough Extra store.

"We work hard to make sure the design of our stores and car parks works for all our customers and we’ve passed this feedback onto the store team.”
