A major supermarket brand is gearing up to open its doors next month.

Aldi is to open its long-awaited new store on the Farnham Road this September.

After being pushed back from an originally earmarked opening in Spring, Slough residents are just a month away from being able to shop at the bargain retailer.

The supermarket, situated next to Pets at Home and Poundland, is nearing completion, with the signage and final touches still missing.

Construction workers on the site say the works are going to plan and believe the September opening is within reach.

An Aldi spokesperson previously told the Observer: “Construction for our new Slough store is progressing well as we move towards opening in September this year.

"This will create up to 45 jobs for the community and enable local people to shop and save closer to home.”

However, local residents have previously expressed concern about the parking in the area, saying the area is already a "nightmare" to find parking.

A spokesperson from Aldi said: “Once open the new Slough store will have 132 parking spaces available for our customers to use while shopping with us.

"We have worked closely with local councils to ensure that this number is sufficient to meet the demand of our customers and we look forward to welcoming them soon.”
