THE HUGELY popular tale of a group of ordinary WI women creating a nude calendar all for good cause is heading back to the stage.
Gary Barlow and Tom Firth's Calendar Girls The Musical has returned with an all-new cast to delight theatre-goers in Windsor this coming week.
The tour kicked off at the Theatre Royal Windsor and is running through the week until September 16.
It follows an emotional story of a group of ordinary women in a small Yorkshire Women’s Institute who are prompted to do an extraordinary thing and set about creating a nude calendar to raise money for charity.
The move is prompted by the death of a much-loved husband for one of the women, making for an emotional but highly comical and well-written tale of confidence and power.
Calendar Girls the Musical brings together a stunning cast of music, stage, and television stars, including five Mrs Johnstone’s from Bill Kenwright’s production of Willy Russell’s smash hit Blood Brothers. Tanya Franks (Eastenders), Maureen Nolan (The Nolans), Lyn Paul (The New Seekers), Amy Robbins (Coronation Street), Paula Tappenden (Theatre Star), Marti Webb (Tell Me on a Sunday) and Honeysuckle Weeks (Foyles War) as the ladies.
The brand-new production of the award-winning musical will run until September 16 at Theatre Royal Windsor with performances both at 7.30pm and 2.30pm.
