The opening date for a highly anticipated supermarket has now been announced.

Aldi, which is getting ready to open on the Farnham Road has been watched by eagle-eyed residents after the opening date has been delayed two times.

Originally set to open in Spring, the opening was pushed back until September, when the store announced that they needed another month to prepare for the opening.

Aldi has now confirmed that the new store will be opening its doors to the public at 8am on Thursday, October 12.

Recently the sign has gone up on the Aldi store and the fencing has begun to be pulled down.

Workers have been seen going in and out of the site, appearing to put the final touches on the inside of the store.

The new store will offer fresh, British meat products with weekly offers, Aldi’s award-winning ‘Specially Selected’ range, exclusive Beers, Wines and Spirits, and a ‘Food to Go’ section at the front of the store.

Aldi’s legendary Specialbuys will also be available in the middle aisle every Thursday and Sunday, offering extraordinary value on a wide range of products, from electrical items to garden tools.

Aldi Store Manager Sean Muir said: “We can’t wait to open the doors to the new store in Slough."

The launch of the new store will see Olympic hero Moe Sbihi join the new Aldi team in celebrating the opening.

Rowing star Moe Sbihi added: “I’m so excited to be opening Aldi’s new store; it will be great to chat to customers and a lovely way for me to thank Aldi for its support of Team GB.”

Aldi has been fuelling Team GB with fresh, healthy food since 2015 through monthly vouchers,

Sean Muir and his team will be joined by gold and bronze medallist Moe Sbihi to celebrate the store opening by cutting the all-important ribbon on opening morning.

Moe will also give away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s famous Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.

The new Aldi store is also calling on local charities and food banks in Slough to register with Neighbourly, a community engagement platform that links businesses to charitable organisations in the local community.

Local charities that register will be able to collect surplus food and perishable products, such as fruit, vegetables and baked goods, seven days a week. Any charities in the area that would like to partner up with the new Aldi store should email aldi@neighbourly.com.

The new store will be located on 141 Farnham Road, Slough Trading Estate, Slough, SL1 4XB.

It will be open Monday to Saturday, 8am to 10pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.
