Knit Your Socks Off has been busy over the last few weeks making a post-box topper that marks Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Knit Your Socks Off is a Slough-based knitting group that knits/crochets for charity. over the last year they have supported 22 different charities and made and donated over 7000 items.

Co-founder of Knit Your Socks Off Samina Hussain and group member Thresa Carter helped install the topper last week on the post-box in the main reception of Wexham Park Hospital, Slough.

The knitted cover is made up of knitted and crochet 'boobs' in different skin tones and sizes.

It is hoped that the piece will normalise and open conversations around breast cancer as well as encouraging self-checking and symptom awareness.

Co-founder of the group Sbba Siddique said: “It was really important for us to mark breast cancer awareness month in some way.

“The group was started by myself and my Co-founder Samina Hussain when she was first diagnosed with Breast cancer 8 years ago.

She continued: “In recent years several group members have also had a BC diagnosis so it became personal to spread awareness of self-checking and symptoms.”
