A man has been jailed for a series of 'vicious attacks' including attacking another man with a hammer - fracturing his skull.

At Reading Crown Court on Friday, November 3, Mohammed Islam, aged 24, of no fixed abode was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment.

He previously pleaded guilty to one count each of; section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assault by beating and possession of an offensive weapon.

On August 22 last year, Islam met the victim, a 23-year-old man, at an address in Upton Park. He beat the victim by punching him in the face, causing bruising and swelling.

Then on September 22 last year, Islam assaulted the same victim by approaching him from behind and attacking him with a hammer. As a result, the victim sustained a fractured skull.

Islam fled to Scotland but was located and arrested by officers on October 26, 2022.

Islam was also given an indefinite restraining order against the victim.

Investigating officer, Detective Constable Ashley Jones, of Slough CID, said: “I am pleased that Islam has been sentenced for his vicious attacks on this victim.

“He tried to run away from what he had done, but officers eventually caught up with him and he will now spend time in prison.

“I hope this serves as an example that we will find offenders who try to hide and put them before the courts to get justice for victims.”
