A new shop has opened its doors in Cippenham.

Slough Outreach has taken over the RSPCA charity shop on Elmshott Lane with the hope of helping those in need and putting money back into the local community.

Having opened on Monday, November 13, Shin Dhother, founder of Slough Outreach said: "It's been so busy, we need all the help we can get."

Shin said when the RSPCA announced the closure of its charity shop people were "up in arms about it" and took to social media in a bid to save it.

"They had a petition going with over 500 signatures."

The landlord reached out to Shin wondering whether Slough Outreach could use it as a drop-off point.

"We came and looked at it - it was brilliant. It is all 100 per cent volunteer run. There were a couple of staff who have been here for 16 years. Lovely people.

"I came in and I thought 'we need to save this shop and save these people' - it is a community hub."

Chris Reid, 72, has been volunteering at the RSPCA charity shop with his wife.

He said: "I was at the RSPCA for 15 years.

"We thought it was closing but Shin said he would take it over and all the volunteers with the RSPCA are back here now."

The RSPCA left some items and clothing rails, saving Shun a month of work.

He was then able to reopen the charity shop after a till was donated.

Speaking about the opening day Shin said: "We're so grateful to everyone who came to see us on the first day of opening our Slough Outreach Charity Shop Community Hub in Cippenham.

"It was a wonderful day filled with smiles, music, laughter, and community spirit.

"We were thrilled to see so many people come through our doors, and we're so excited to be a part of the Cippenham community.

"Our Hub is a space for everyone to come together, get information on services available, donate unwanted items for a good cause, and help us continue our essential community outreach."

RSPCA Slough said: "We’re pleased to say that Slough Outreach has taken over the former RSPCA charity shop in Cippenham and has already opened its doors.

"Some of our wonderful volunteers will be helping in the shop and we were happy to leave some of the fixtures to help out the new team. We wish them the best of luck."

Slough Outreach is a community-led organisation that aims to provide support for local residents and those in need.

Slough Outreach's charity shop is open Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm.
