Slough's local hero's have been celebrated in an award ceremony.

Slough Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) awarded individuals and groups for their role in helping the local community in a glamorous evening at Baylis House on Friday, November 17.

Over 220 guests attended #OneSlough celebration of volunteering, designed to recognise and celebrate the incredible spirit of unity and collaboration that defines our Slough community.

A panel of judges made the difficult decision with a record 130 nominations this year.

The evening was organised by Slough CVS and hosted by Dr Jim O’Donnell and Dominique Unsworth, CEO, Resource Productions, with a welcome from The Mayor of Slough, Cllr Amjad Abassi and keynote speech by Fiona Edwards, CEO, Frimley NHS.

A total of 15 trophies and certificates were presented by representatives of Slough Borough Council and NHS to the Winners and Highly commended on the night.

Ramesh Kukar, Chief Executive Officer for Slough CVS, said “Tonight, we recognised the outstanding contributions of those who have gone above and beyond to make a difference.

"We celebrate the volunteers who have tirelessly given their time and energy to help others, the businesses that have supported our community, the charities that have provided essential services and support to Slough residents."

The Mayor of Slough presented a special award to Ramesh Kukar for his contribution to the voluntary sector in Slough.
