Dozens of Slough parking enforcement officers are expected to strike at the end of December over a pay dispute.

More than 30 enforcement officers from Saba Park Services will undertake industrial action from December 27 to December 30.

Unite the Union claims this will leave the council without parking attendance, back-office support and CCTV monitoring.

Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: “Our members need wages that reflect the work they do. Saba Parking Services should be ashamed of how they’re treating its hard-working staff.”

“Unite is entirely dedicated to improving and defending the jobs pay and conditions of its members and the workers employed by Saba Paek Services will receive the union’s complete support.”

The union adds that street parking restrictions such as double yellow lines, resident parking zones and street pay and display parking would not be monitored during this time.

Unite regional officer Richard White said: “The strike action will cause parking chaos across Slough, but this dispute is of Saba Parking and the council’s own making. They have had ample opportunity to make a fair offer but have failed to do so.

“This dispute has been ongoing since April, when we started negotiations. Since then, we have seen membership grow rapidly.”

When approached for comment by the Observer, a Slough Borough Council spokesperson said: "We are still in discussions with Saba.”
