A well-known hotel chain is preparing to open in Windsor as the final stage of the plans go to the council for consideration.

Premier Inn is seeking to use the rear of the former Boots on Peascod Street as part of its plans for a 116-bedroom hotel spanning back to Mellor Walk and Bachelors Acre.

It will be the first time Premier Inn has opened in Windsor, with the nearest hotels being across the river in Slough.

On Monday, February 5, the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead received an application from Premier Inn to display several illuminated signs.

Plans were submitted to the council in 2021 proposing the part demolition of the rear of the building while keeping the retail store entrance and footprint.

The original plans spoke about how Boots will be retained in the premises but it is unclear how the space will be used following Boots vacating the unit last year.

The council gave their approval of the plans spanning four storeys in January 2022, alongside plans to demolish a section of the building to redevelop it into a newly built hotel, with a restaurant, bar and loading area.

A spokesperson for Premier Inn added: "We are very pleased to have secured a location in the heart of Windsor for Premier Inn.

"We believe Peascod Street will be a fantastic choice for our customers, and we're optimistic the hotel will be well-received by our guests when it opens."
