A local resident says he is concerned that his house will flood due to developers pumping water from a field into road drains.

David Micheal Glazier said that the developers are levelling the land between Maidenhead Road and Windsor Road for new housing.

"Production only started three weeks ago," he said. "But due to the heavy rainfall we have been experiencing this last month workers have been pumping water from the site into the surrounding drains."

This has caused the drains to overflow and has created increased anxiety with local residents.

Mr Glazier lives 20 yards away from the field and is worried about property flooding, as he questions where all the excess water will go.

Last Thursday February 8 Mr Glazier said that as the rainfall was so heavy the water was going down one drain and coming up from the other.

In a recent post to social media, Mr Glazier said the following:

“This is what happens when you grant planning permission for a large estate close to the river.

“The developers have spent the last two days trying to pump out the standing water into the existing drainage system which wasn't designed to cope with it, last night the brown water was going down one drain the up the next, the pump was running all night with no one on site.

“In desperation and fearing our property could end up flooded I contacted Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead emergency number as they are responsible for blocked drains and gullies, after quite a conservation with them their only advice was to contact the police!”

The development is called AL21 and is the field between Maidenhead Road and A308 Windsor Road, Windsor.

Mr Glazier also sent an email to his local Councillor and completed an online reporting form to the local council. He received no response.

The field has not been pumped since Saturday, but residents are still concerned the pumping will continue.

A council spokesperson said: “Officers have been made aware of the situation and are looking further into this matter with the relevant teams, and will speak with the developer as well to get further details."

The developer has been contacted for a comment.
