Dramatic pictures show a car crashed into the walls of Windsor Castle, having collided head-on, near to the junction with River Street.
Photos from the scene showed how emergency services gave treatment to a person on the ground, near the vehicle which had had its airbags deployed.
Emergency services were called to the accident at 7:50am on Tuesday, March 12.
The crash came just days after a man was arrested for crashing into the gates of Buckingham Palace.
A passer-by following the accident said: "People already there said someone drove out and smashed straight into Windsor Castle wall.
"There was definitely one person in the car and I couldn't tell if there was another - all of a sudden there were people around [the vehicle] very quickly.
"Someone was on the floor being treated but it was a very calm atmosphere.
"People didn't really know what was going on and some were scared it was something serious."
Thames Valley Police were quick to close the road with a spokesperson stating: “We received a report of a road traffic collision at 7.50am this morning (March 12) on Thames Street, Windsor.
“The road is expected to be closed for some time.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact the force by calling 101 or making a report online quoting reference number 43240115038.”
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed crews from Slough and Windsor fire stations to the scene alongside an officer.
A spokesperson said: "Upon arrival, crews discovered a collision involving two vehicles and two pedestrians. Firefighters made the scene safe and provided immediate emergency care to five people before placing them in the care of South Central Ambulance Service.
"Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour and 16 minutes."
South Central Ambulance Service added: “South Central Ambulance Service were called to a road traffic collision this morning in Windsor.
“A team leader, an ambulance and two helicopter emergency medical service cars attended the incident, supporting our Thames Valley Police and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service colleagues.
