Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit the county leading to travel disruption and some flooding.
The Met Office issued a Yellow warning for thunderstorms in the south of England today, May 1.
Spells of heavy rain are expected this evening and overnight.
In some places, most likely over northern and eastern parts of the warning area, there is a chance that rain will be accompanied by thunderstorms and frequent lightning.
The Met Office have said between 20 to 40 mm of rain is expected to fall quite widely with 50 mm possible in a few places.
In some places, much of this rain may fall over a two or three-hour period.
The weather warning starts at 11pm tonight and lasts until 6am tomorrow (May 2).
What to expect:
- Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
- Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services
- There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost
- There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds
With higher temperatures this week there is a risk we could see some active thunderstorms in the south on Wednesday night
