Police have extended a Section 60 order for a further 24 hours after a man was threatened with a machete inside a shop in Slough.

At around 8pm on Tuesday, April 30, four males approached a group of men on Trelawney Avenue.

One of the males then entered a shop and threatened the men with a machete.

The original Section 60 order was put in place on the evening of May 1 covering specific areas of Langley and Wexham shown on the map below.

Slough Observer:

The order gives officers additional powers to stop and search anyone without question within a specified area to ensure the safety of the wider public.

The order will be in place until 12 pm on Friday, May 3.

Chief Inspector Ashley Smith, Deputy Local Policing Area Commander for Slough, said: “I understand that an order of this nature could cause concern, but while it may sound alarming, enhancing our stop and search powers provides us with another tactic to quickly identify and disrupt those carrying weapons.

“If you are stopped by an officer, please do not be worried as this does not mean that you are in trouble.

“You will see more police officers in the area while the order is in place and we expect to carry out more stop and searches than usual.

“Officers who are out and about are there to reassure you as well as using their powers under Section 60 so please do stop and speak with them about any concerns that you have.”
