WINSFORD’S Koshido-Ryu Karate Club have had yet more international success to celebrate.

Fourteen-year-old Matty Jackson – a member of the club based at The Den in Winsford Town Centre – was one of only two UK competitors to travel to Norway and compete in the first WUKF Oslo Open.

Having travelled with his parents, he had no coach in his corner but still came back with an impressive medal haul including a gold in the 14 years Kata.

He also placed second in the 13-15 years Kumite Ippon and third in both the 14-15 years Kata and 13-15 years Kumite Sandon.

Matty rounded off his excellent performance by placing fourth in the 16-17 years Kata despite being up against older competitors.

His latest success comes hot on the heels of being part of the Koshidu-Ryu team who brought back gold medals from the recent World Karate Alliance Championships in Malta – he won gold in the 13-14 years Open Styles Kata as well as Kumite Sanbon bronze.
