A man who stole nine steaks from the Tesco branch in Windsor has been ordered to pay compensation to the store.
James Walsby, 26, of Hanover Way, Windsor, appeared before Reading Magistrates' Court on June 21.
He stood charged with theft from a shop.
This was in relation to an incident at the Windsor Tesco Express on April 1.
Walsby made off with nine steaks from the store, valued at £43.80.
The defendant pleaded guilty over the offence - and to a charge of failing to surrender to bail at Slough Magistrates' Court on June 3.
Magistrates handed him a 12-month community order, including a 15-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
In addition, he must pay £43.80 in compensation to the store for the steak thefts.
