A new exam hall and an eight bedroom ‘family home’ are in this week’s roundup of planning applications and decisions at Slough Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
You can view each one by going to the council’s planning website and searching for the application number provided.
Slough: Westgate School (P/03977/028)
An exam hall could be built on two netball courts at Westgate Secondary School, according to plans submitted to Slough Borough Council.
The plans say the proposed new centre would provide a 320-seat main hall, but that this could be adapted for sports, containing a Sports England-compliant double court.
It also says there will be two blocks containing three 20-seat exam rooms and eight special educational needs rooms.
The plans say the school needs ‘sufficent space for regular assessment for all years’ and that this can’t be provided in the school’s current buildings.
Slough: Bath Road chalets (P/02550/002)
Permission has been refused for a scheme to demolish a dilapidated bungalow on Bath Road and replace it with two ‘chalet’ style homes.
Plans to demolish 546 Bath Road and its garages, and replace it with the two chalets were submitted to Slough Borough Council.
But council planning officers said the scheme would be ‘contrived and discordant’ and was ‘designed to maximise the development of the site rather than respect the character and appearance of the area and street’.
They also said the bedroom windows would give residents poor outlook and privacy. And they said the plans hadn’t provided enough information on car parking or their ecological impact.
Slough: eight bedroom house (P/00047/002)
Plans to build a ‘family’ house with eight bedrooms and six bathrooms on Langley Road have been submitted to Slough Borough Council.
Under the plans, the existing house at 21 Langley Road would be demolished and replaced with the new home. A previous plan was refused by Slough Borough Council for being ‘bulky, insubordinate and over-dominant.’
The new application says the plans have now been adjusted so that the house would have a pitched roof rather than a mansard roof. And the previously-planned glazed front atrium has been ditched ‘to create a more conservative design.’
Slough: Marish primary school (P/03504/011)
Marish primary school could get a new perimeter fence if Slough Borough Council grants planning permission.
The school has applied for permission to install a ‘2.4m high green weldmesh fencing around part of the school perimeter.’ There would also be new matching gates at the pedestrian entrance off Morrice Close.
