A high street bank and a homeless shelter are in this week’s roundup of planning applications and decisions at Slough Borough Council and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
You can view each one by going to the council’s planning website and searching for the application number provided.
Slough: NatWest (P/00610/019)
NatWest has been granted planning permission to remove all its signs and marketing, as well as its cash machine, from its branch on Slough High Street after closing this week.
The branch closed its doors for the last time on Thursday, September 12 – having announced the planned closure in March.
Slough Borough Council granted planning permission to remove its signs and cash machine that same day. The nearest branches are now at Slough Trading Estate or on Maidenhead High Street.
Slough: Heathrow (P/12244/014)
Segro wants to make a logistics centre used to store and processes Heathrow Airport construction materials permanent, plans submitted to Slough Borough Council suggest. It comes as airport bosses prepare to relaunch expansion plans.
The proposal relates to the Wilson James facility off the Colnbrook bypass and next to the M25 motorway at the Colnbrook logistics centre.
Planning permission to use the land for the storage and assembly of materials for the construction of Heathrow’s Terminal 5 was originally granted on a temporary basis in 2003.
Permission to use it for other projects related to Heathrow Airport was granted in 2007. And further extensions were granted in 2010 and 2019.
The latest extension expired in April this year – however plans suggest owners want to make the permission permanent.
Segro has not yet submitted a new planning application. But it has submitted a request for a screening opinion to determine whether any application would need an environmental impact assessment.
It comes after Heathrow Airport suggested in July that it was considering reviving plans for a third runway, and the Labour government suggested it was ‘open minded’ about the idea.
Slough: ATM (P/06425/002)
A takeaway on Farnham Road has been granted planning permission for its new ATM machine.
The Lebanese Grill applied for retrospective planning permission for the cash machine at its premises at 316 Farnham Road on July 17. Slough Borough Council granted permission on Monday, September 9.
RBWM: homeless shelter (24/01379/FULL)
A former social club can now be used as an emergency homeless shelter after getting permission from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
The shelter can open at 73A Alma Road in Windsor. It was previously a church hall for the Holy Trinty church before being used as a bar by the Alma Road Social Club for some 20 years until 2022.
It has since been used by the Windsor Homeless Project as a base for its operations, but the group had to apply for planning permission to be able to use it as an emergency shelter. This was granted on Monday, September 9.
