A cordon was put up around the area and roads were subsequently closed off as Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service worked to extinguish the flames.
A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said: "We're sharing this on behalf of @RBFRS
"They have been dealing with a fire at King Edward Court car park, which is now out and there have been no injuries. Charles Street remains closed and will be so for some time. Please avoid the area. Thank you."
Charles Street was then opened to traffic.
We have contacted the fire service for any updates. Their response will be added to this article once we have it.
