A man in his eighties has been left in a critical condition after he was assaulted in broad daylight outside a parade of shops in Slough.

The incident took place in Stoke Road at the junction with Elliman Avenue at approximately 3.50pm on Tuesday. 

The victim was taken to hospital where he remains at this time in a critical condition. Officers are in contact with his family, according to Thames Valley Police. 

Yesterday, officers arrested two teenagers from Slough, one 15-year-old boy and one 16-year-old boy, in connection with this incident, according the police.

The pair have since been released on bail.

Detective Inspector Annabelle Palmer, based at Slough police station, said: “Firstly, our thoughts are with the family of the man who was assaulted on Tuesday afternoon during this very difficult time.

“At this stage, we believe there is no wider risk to the community in connection with this incident.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to this assault to please come forward.

“We know the area was very busy at the time and there were a large number of people around.
