A big birthday has been marked in style with a royal delivery and a sword-cut cake.
Maidenhead resident Hilda Bond, who lives at St Mark’s Bupa Care Home, recently celebrated her 105th birthday.
Staff organised a special day on July 6, bringing together family and friends for the occasion.
Emma Moffat, resident experience manager, said: "Hilda is a beautiful person, and we love celebrating all our residents.
"We were so pleased that the Deputy Lieutenant could visit and deliver her card, to show how loved she is.
"She even got to cut her cake with the deputy’s sword."
The card from King Charles III was hand-delivered by Richard Anderson, Deputy Lieutenant of Berkshire.
Ms Bond was born in Hampshire into a farming family with six siblings.
During the Second World War, she worked at a zip factory on the Slough trading estate.
After the war, she married her partner and went on to have two sons.
Entertainment for the birthday included a performance by local singer Jean Claude.
The home was decorated with balloons, and guests enjoyed tea and cakes.
Staff also created a scrapbook filled with birthday messages from carers, residents, and community members.
When asked about the secret to a long and happy life, Ms Bond said: "Don’t take life too seriously."
