A frequently visited Chinese restaurant in Maidenhead has announced its sudden closure after more than 15 years in business.

Noodle Nation, which had sat on King Street in the town since 2010, confirmed it had ceased trading ‘with immediate effect’ on the evening of Monday, August 18.

They confirmed their departure from the town in a lengthy Facebook post, in which they thanked their loyal customers for all their support.

They said: “As an independent restaurant, we were being squeezed from all angles and, coupled with the ever-changing landscape of the town, this has made it difficult to make ends meet.

“We tried to navigate the situation over the last five years, but we just couldn’t hold on any longer for the regeneration.

“We are grateful for the time we spent with you and give a heartfelt thanks to all of the lovely customers who have come through our doors, many of whom we have seen grow from kids to adults.

“You will be missed.”

In their statement, the business also thanked every single member of staff, both past and present, for their efforts in keeping Noodle Nation afloat, but added that ‘all good things must come to an end’.

Following their closure, many people took to social media to praise the business as well as share the memories they had when visiting the restaurant.

This person said: “So sad!

“We have been regulars for many years and have always chosen Noodle Nation over other bigger brands.

“We will be visiting High Wycombe and Aylesbury as we will need a fix.

“Wishing you all the best for the future.”

This customer added: “Such a shame.

“We have been going since my eldest was nine months old.

“He is now 18.5.”

This customer added: “This is terrible, terrible news.

“We’ve been regulars of yours ever since you opened.

“We’d always choose you over anyone else. What is happening to Maidenhead?

“Thanks for the memories, Noodle Nation.

“We’ll just have to see you in High Wycombe now.

“All the best.”

A former employee said: “This is very sad news to hear.

“I have fond memories of working there many years ago as assistant manager and the rebranding I was part of.

“Will be missed by so many.”

The business ended its stint in Maidenhead with a score of 4.1/5 from 566 Google Reviews, many of which were positive.

One reads: “The food was amazing, completely changed the standard I know of a Chinese restaurant, the beef strips were crispy yet still meaty and not dry like some places, and the sauce was a perfect balance of sweet with a kick of ginger and sweet chilli sauce.”

Noodle Nation’s other branches in Aylesbury and High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire remain open.
