An unforgettable Sweeney Todd production was delivered by two schools.

Windsor Boys’ School and Windsor Girls’ School teamed up to showcase "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."

Their ambitious effort brought together more than 150 talented students along with a live orchestra and professional set design.

The authentic Victorian London costumes added the final touch to this grand production.

Multiple shows were sold out, enthralling a grand audience of over 1,400.

This vivid rendition of the challenging musical theatre piece not only highlighted the dedication of the students but also their remarkable creativity.

James Manwaring, director of music for Windsor Learning Partnership, said: "Sweeney Todd is an exceptionally challenging score, and our students have truly risen to the occasion.

"Their commitment, resilience, and sheer talent have been remarkable.

"They have worked tirelessly to master complex music and demanding roles, and I could not be prouder of what they have achieved."

Gavin Henderson, CEO of Windsor Learning Partnership, praised the production, adding : "This production is a testament to the incredible benefits of partnership across our schools.

"By pooling resources and talent, we’ve created an experience that will stay with our students for a lifetime.

"Participation in school activities like this plays a vital role in supporting pupil wellbeing and fostering confidence, teamwork and creativity.

"I want to extend my thanks to every member of staff and every student for their hard work and dedication in bringing this ambitious project to life."

Sweeney Todd is a 1979 musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by Hugh Wheeler.

It is based on the 1970 play Sweeney Todd by Christopher Bond.

The character of Sweeney Todd first appeared in a Victorian penny titled The String of Pearls.

Since opening on Broadway in 1979 and on the West End in 1980, the show has reached critical acclaim, scooping the Tony Award for Best Musical, and an Olivier Award for Best New Musical.

Over the years, it has been revived in several productions, and even inspired a film adaptation.

The film, released in 2007, was directed by Tim Burton, and starred Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman and Sacha Baron Cohen among a cast of stars.
