An independent bookshop is marking 25 years in Iver.

Pemberley Books, based in Bathurst Walk, specialises in natural history and entomology books and has built an international reputation.

Founded in 1989 by Ian and Julie Johnson, the shop relocated to a 1930s mock-Tudor building in Iver 25 years ago and now houses more than 25,000 titles.

Ian Johnson, co-owner of Pemberley Books, said: "We chose Iver because of its excellent transport links.

"The station is only a short walk away, and the road connections are excellent, making it easy for both local visitors and those travelling from further afield.

"Local people are often surprised and delighted to discover such a specialist bookshop on their doorstep.

"We greatly value our local customers, as well as our international mail-order clients who have supported us over the years."

To celebrate the anniversary, the shop will launch a series of initiatives throughout 2026, including quarterly prize draws offering a £25 book voucher to customers, special discounts for natural history and entomological societies, an expanded newsletter programme with more frequent curated recommendations, and a refreshed visual identity across digital platforms.

Julie Johnson, co-owner, said: "As we celebrate 25 years in Iver, we remain as passionate as ever about connecting people with the natural world through books.

"We look forward to continuing to serve our community – locally, nationally and internationally – for many years to come."

Pemberley Books is one of the UK’s leading specialist suppliers of new and second-hand books covering all aspects of the natural world, with a particular focus on entomology.

The shop serves private collectors, libraries, museums, and research institutions around the world, and stocks titles across zoology, botany, geology, and palaeontology.

Since 2007, Pemberley Books has published the Entomologist’s Monthly Magazine, a journal established in 1854 that covers taxonomy, ecology, biodiversity, and the natural history of insects and other terrestrial invertebrates.

The shop also champions specialist publishing and supports both professional scientists and amateur naturalists, maintaining its focus on expertise and personal service while adapting to changes in the bookselling industry.

Further details about the anniversary celebrations will be shared via the shop’s website and social media channels throughout the year.
